The disease, dubbed the Nosoi Disease by the elders – embeds itself in the medulla, spinal cord, cerebral cortex and muscle tissue of its victims. There it matures, slowly but surely altering the tissue matter of its selected areas. Without the venom of the Carnicula flower to combat the strain, the Nosoi disease will not stop at a simple alteration, but will continue on in an attempt to completely control its host – by this time, the body of the host will be exhausted, and unable to cope with any more changes. The disease will self destruct in a dying body, burning up and leaving the body through the blood stream, literally bleeding the victim dry.
However, with continual consumption of the Carnicula venom, the disease is paused – leaving the host symptom free, and able to make use of the changes made to their own body. Depending on lifelong personality traits, mental and physical strength, as well as which strain of the disease one is infected with, any one of the following mutations can take place, thanks to the new level of mental capabilities. With the mutation comes a brand of some sort. Once the host has taken the first dose of Carnicula poison, a burning sensation will discolor the skin and fur, leaving a notable mark that will never clear. The area of the mark seems to be favorable of the shoulder, rump and cheekbones. It is found that the mark that appears is in direct coloration to the type of mutation.
The elders believe that the disease is demonic. That it is directly related to venegeful spirits. But that is just a theory. Some who become infected accept death, others take the cure once and then hate themselves for it – others embrace it. In the end – it remains your choice.
The mutation allows the host to contort water to a certain extent. One cannot create water from nothing, but can expand it once more experienced. Dangers of this disease when out of control is unexplainable drowning on unseen liquids, as well as severe water retention and constantly weeping tear ducts – leading to temporary or permanent blindness. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Moving of dew drops.
- Contortion of small amounts of water.
- Raising of small amounts of water.
- Raising of all liquids.
- Absorption of all liquids.
- Drawing liquids from sources. (Will lead to strain if amount is too large.)
- Manipulation of rain and precipitation.
- Expansion of water.
The mutations allows the host to manipulate the elements of mother earth. Things such as plants, ground and eventually tectonic plates. Dangers of this disease when uncared for include rapid aging, extreme vertigo and balance issues. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Moving of small plant appendages.
- Raising of small pebbles etc.
- Forcing plant growth.
- Contortion of larger plant appendages.
- Draining of life from natural sources. (May backfire)
- Contortion of the top level of ground.
- Moving of tectonic plates. (Extremely dangerous to host.)
The mutation allows the host to delve into the next realm, the realm of the dead. This specific mutation is very difficult to control, and has more dangers than most. If not controlled it could lead to dementia, false illusions, schizophrenia and severe depression. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Ability to sense presences.
- Ability to ‘hear’ the voices of the dead, but briefly.
- Ability to see the dead, but briefly.
- Ability to see auras of others.
- Full capability of seeing the dead. (Sometimes cannot be controlled.)
- Full capability to converse with the dead. (Cannot be controlled.)
- Ability to banish spirits for long periods of time.
- Ability to drain energy from the living.
The mutation allows the host to contort the air around them. Since air is always present, the abilities of such hosts are unhindered. Dangers include spontaneous asphyxiation, temporary and permanent deafness and loss of fur. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Creation of small breezes.
- Changing of wind direction.
- Creation of winds.
- Violent contortion of wind.
- Mild asphyxiation.
- Contortion of wind to such an extent that it lifts objects. (Leads to strain.)
- Asphyxiation. (A danger to both parties.)
The mutation allows the host to contort and control flames. However, no matter how experienced they become – they can never create fire. Dangers of this disease include swelling of the throat to such an extent that speaking and eating become impossible, bones will also become brittle is mutation is abused. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Contortion of small amounts of flame.
- Raising of small amounts of flame.
- Expansion of flames.
- Contortion of larger amounts of flame.
- Flame immunity.
- Drawing of energy from fire. (Kills fire.)
- Spreading, throwing and spitting of fire.
The mutation allows the host to start fire from suitable sources once experienced enough. Dangers include spontaneous combustion, fainting, and blacking out for prolonged periods of time. Abilities in relation to experience:
- Creating smoke from dry patches of leaves.
- Melting of ice and snow.
- Generating extreme body heat.
- Flame immunity.
- Creating of small fires from dry patches.
- Flame contortion.
- Creating of larger fires.
- Spitting of hot cinders.
- Stealing the energy of others.
- Fire spreading.
